Open House Idea

If you are lucky enough to own J. Patrick Lewis’s Spot the Plot here’s an interactive bulletin board idea for you!  Each spread in the book gives clues (in poetry form) to a classic well-known book most of your students will know. (Think Charlotte’s Web, Madeline, Click Clack Moo, etc.) Type these up and put on construction paper.  Underneath, for the “answer” put a color copy of the front cover of the book.  This creates a “lift the flap” type board.  I used the book with my second graders first and then created this bulletin board as a challenge for the rest of the school/parents on Open House night.  All night long there were clusters of families gathered around the board trying to see if they could guess all the books.  Fun!

What are some of your favorite book-related interactive bulletin boards?  Please leave a comment and share.
